Can you tell us about your career journey at BurdaLuxury?
I began my technology career as a Data Analyst with a SQL focus, then moved into a Database Administration role with a SQL Server focus. While I've enjoyed my time as a DBA over the last three years, I've grown increasingly interested in reporting and have created several custom reports for various business owners, allowing them to gain greater visibility into program and technical enhancement results. I took some Power BI and Data Studio training courses and have really enjoyed joining the local Power BI Meetup and the meetings I've attended so far. I'm thrilled to be moving into the role of Business Intelligence and Reports Development, with a focus on business solutions utilizing Power BI and/or Data Studio.
What sort of duties do you have at work?
My responsibilities include working with the company to identify opportunities for improvement in business operations and processes, assisting with the design or modification of existing business systems and IT systems, interacting with business stakeholders and subject matter experts (SMEs) to better understand their needs and problems, gathering documents and analyzing the company's needs and requirements, resolving business problems and designing technical solutions, and documenting the functionality.
What’s your most-used productivity hack?
I try to externalize my tasks in the form of an Excel list - it frees up my mind and allows me to focus on what needs to be done right now rather than everything that needs to be done that day. You can also assign a rank to each task to prioritize them based on their importance. And whenever I get stuck, I take a coffee break or go for a walk around the house to clear my mind.
As a business analyst, what are some of the most interesting projects you've been a part of so far?
I created an automation framework for reports to reduce processing time. I also worked with the DDh team to design and develop an automated ETL solution to load the data warehouse with the necessary data. In addition, I created Google Analytics-based daily reporting automation for 13 websites to flag anomalies and capture insights.
