Life at BurdaLuxury – Phakin Prayuthpong

Light is the Marketing Manager at Travel + Leisure Southeast Asia, Hong Kong & Macau. Working closely and collaboratively alongside the sales, editorial, and masterclass teams, on any given day you can find him conceptualising and strategising campaigns, ensuring that all content aligns with the brand’s verticals. From digital and print ads, to working with partners and ensuring a seamless event experience for guests, Light is key in making sure that Travel + Leisure Southeast Asia, Hong Kong & Macau remains at the forefront of the luxury travel industry.

Can you tell us a bit about your background and how you got started in marketing?
My background is actually in law, but it was my decision to pursue a master’s degree in Entrepreneurship instead of law that kickstarted my marketing career. After graduation, I had the opportunity to join a management trainee programme where I worked with different departments on a rotation basis until I landed in branding and marketing – and that’s how I got started!

How has working for a media company been different to your previous roles?
Working for a media company has been different as it has broadened my marketing perspective. One particular point is the power of content marketing, whether it’s advertorial, editorial, or event – which I personally find exciting.

What three words would you use to describe being a part of the Travel + Leisure Southeast Asia, Hong Kong and Macau team?
Passionate. Collaborative. Empowering.

What’s a milestone that you’ve been proud of achieving?
The 2024 Travel + Leisure Southeast Asia, Hong Kong & Macau Luxury Awards has been one of my proudest achievements to date. It was the very first project that I was assigned when I joined BurdaLuxury and I only had one month to plan and execute every aspect of it. The given timeline made it challenging but rewarding.

Who were some of your biggest influences growing up?
Not anything or anyone specifically, but my experiences, the people I’ve met, and the places I’ve been to.

What is a project that you’re currently working on (if you’re at liberty to say)?
I’m currently involved in the planning of The Luxury Summit Asia, which will be coming in 2025. This inaugural event will bring together industry titans to discuss the latest trends, challenges, and opportunities pertaining to luxury travel. Plus a lot more exciting components that I’m not at liberty to share just yet, so stay tuned.

Why BurdaLuxury?
I’m passionate about the luxury industry and so being able to come to work and work alongside supportive and talented colleagues who share the same passion is what I’ve been looking for.
