Life at BurdaLuxury – Austin Miao

Austin is the Account Manager at BurdaLuxury Hong Kong. On any given day you can find Austin liaising with clients and developing strategies to help them achieve their goals. Having recently wrapped Prestige Hong Kong’s Women of Power Summit, we caught up with Austin to ask him about his time at BurdaLuxury.

Can you tell us about your career journey at BurdaLuxury?
My career at BurdaLuxury is actually pretty interesting. I used to do social media and a bit of editorial at Prestige Hong Kong. Then I left to do couple of other freelance positions at different publications/companies. Since I was working here before, I always stayed connected to Christoph, and he helped send over my CV to Oceana. When I heard that my friend joined Lifestyle Asia, I also made it a point to meet him, and get connected to Oceana. At first I interviewed for a social media position, but Oceana thought that I’d be better suited for a sales roles- she was not wrong.

What’s the most exciting part of your job?
There isn’t “the most” exciting part of my job, but one of the many exciting part of my job is when I close a sponsorship deal for our events.

What three words would you use to describe being a part of the BurdaLuxury Hong Kong team?
Funny, Creative, and Accountable

What’s a milestone that you’ve been proud of achieving?
A milestone that I am proud of and continue to be proud of is closing sponsorships for big projects (covers, events, and creative campaigns for clients)

What inspired you to work in publishing/media?
Pop culture inspired me to be in media. Shows like The Hills, The City (Google it), no joke.

Who were some of your biggest influences growing up?
Influences growing up was pop culture.

What is a project that you’re currently working on (if you’re at liberty to say)? –
Haha I’d rather not say, to not Jinx it. But keep an eye out for Prestige Hong Kong in the coming months.

Why BurdaLuxury?
Doing brand partnerships at Prestige/BurdaLuxury continues to be exciting. Each interaction with a client, campaign, event, is different.

From Tools to Trophy Pieces: The Evolution of Luxury Kitchenware

In October, Porsche and Smeg unveiled a collaboration that blends the roar of the racetrack with the quiet rituals of the kitchen, reimagining everyday appliances through motorsport heritage and Italian design. Anchored by a limited-edition tribute to the Porsche 917 KH – the Salzburg-red icon that secured Porsche’s first Le Mans win in 1970 – the collection includes a numbered FAB28 fridge and bean-to-cup coffee machine wrapped in racing stripes and matte-black accents, joined by two additional ranges in Carrara White Metallic and Shade Green Metallic that reinterpret Porsche’s signature hues across toasters, kettles, blenders, and more. It’s a striking example of how kitchenware has evolved far beyond function to become a modern status symbol, where craftsmanship, nostalgia, and design converge in the everyday theatre of the home.

What Fashion Brands Can Learn from Staging Shows in Asia

On November 13, 2025, The Londoner Arena in Macau transformed into the epicentre of haute couture as Louis Vuitton unveiled its Cruise 2026 collection. Nicolas Ghesquière’s designs, first showcased in the Cour d’Honneur of the Palais des Papes in Avignon, were meticulously recreated, offering Asian audiences a taste of Parisian grandeur without leaving the continent. Among the elite guests were Victoria Song, Carina Lau, Louise Wong, and Yuxiao Lu – an assemblage of cultural icons whose presence underscored Asia’s rising influence in the luxury landscape.
