Pimmi Chandarasrivongs is a Content Writer at Lifestyle Asia Thailand. With an international background and a literature degree from Chulalongkorn University, her hosting roles in Best Bites and In the Powder Room have enhanced her confidence and industry experience. As a young team member, her passion and energy drive the fresh and young concepts of Lifestyle Asia Thailand.
Can you tell us a bit about your background and how you came into your role as a Content Writer at Lifestyle Asia Thailand?
I grew up in the US for a while, and when I was 11, I moved to Italy. I came back here when I was 14, so ever since then I’ve just been living life. I went to Chulalongkorn University and honestly didn’t know what to do after graduation — I was applying for jobs in my room and coincidentally got [the role].
How would you describe being a Content Writer for Lifestyle Asia Thailand?
I think the system [at work] has changed — since I’m doing more client work now, it’s a bit different because I have to go back and forth with them a lot. In the end, it teaches you how to be patient and makes you more disciplined. My day-to-day tasks include writing articles, doing subtitles, thinking of content ideas — and also maintaining client relationships!
What would you say is your favourite piece of work?
That’s really hard because we wrote so much — but I’d say I really enjoyed the Lifestyle Asia Thailand ‘Debutante’ Series, which is now discontinued. It started a while ago when I first joined, but it was the first time I actually had to approach [so many] people. It helped me step out of my comfort zone, and I also got to know a lot of cool people and connect with them more.
What was it like seeing your first article published with Lifestyle Asia Thailand?
My first article was an advertorial, but a really memorable one for me was writing about wellness. When I got this role, I had just gotten out of major surgery to remove a lump that looked similar to breast cancer, so I wrote about the less talked-about parts of women’s health — just to raise awareness for the women who are dealing with the side effects and underlying problems of birth control.
You are featured in both Best Bites and In the Powder Room – how is this experience for you?
I think the experience helped me grow as a person. I remember when I first joined, the sales team asked if I’d try being in front of the camera and I always declined. But last year, I stepped out of my comfort zone and did things I never thought I could do. Saying yes turned out to be a great opportunity, not just to be more seen, but also for my own personal development. It teaches you a lot about the people around you too. Before Best Bites and In the Powder Room, I also worked on Good Life Guide, which gave me a fun preview of what this role would be like.
Do you have a favourite project?
Probably Best Bites. I love food, I enjoy it a lot, and I really like talking to like-minded people who share that same passion.
How do you think these IPs strengthen Lifestyle Asia Thailand as a publication?
In my opinion, Lifestyle Asia Thailand is known by a younger crowd, and because of that, we tend to prefer watching over reading. Right now, we’re growing more, but we’re still relatively small compared to other media, so producing more videos helps us attract a wider audience — especially now that we’re expanding onto YouTube as well.
How would you describe the work culture among your team?
My team right now is really small. The dynamic is great — [my manager] is someone I really look up to. He’s incredibly wise and detail-oriented, and being around that has helped me grow in those areas too. He’s been in the industry for so long and has so much experience, so whether it’s a work issue or something personal, I know I can always go to him. Lisa, our director, I actually call her my mum — she’s super free-spirited, and you can tell she genuinely wants me to feel safe, heard, and free to explore.
If you had to sum up your experience at Lifestyle Asia Thailand in three words, what would they be?
Exciting. Fast-paced. Young.
Who were some of your biggest influences growing up?
I love Selena Gomez and Hannah Montana. I listened to ‘Who Says’ and ‘Best of Both Worlds’ a lot growing up, which always felt very special to me.
Why BurdaLuxury?
The society here is very open-minded, and people are incredibly accepting. To be honest, I never thought I’d have a job because I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do. But during my interview here, they asked why I wanted the job, and I told them, ‘I really need to cut back on my drinking,’ and they liked my honesty! I also graduated with a degree focused on writing and critical thinking, so content writing here is a perfect match for me.
