The Melium Group & BurdaLuxury Kuala Lumpur Raise RM5.132 Million for 12 Charities and Homes

The Melium Group, in partnership with BurdaLuxury Kuala Lumpur, marked its 35th anniversary by continuing its unwavering commitment to giving back to the community via a fundraising Charity Auction for 12 Charity Organisations and Homes hosted at the St. Regis, Kuala Lumpur. At the end of the night, after three hours of bidding, a total of RM5.132 million (€1.008M) was raised for charity with more donations coming in later in a heartwarming effort to support the initiative.

“It’s a testament to the warmth and generosity of Malaysians, that despite challenges in the market and global uncertainties, they always rally to support those in need,” said Dato’ Sri Dr Farah Khan, President and Founder of The Melium Group, and chairperson of The Melium’s 35th Anniversary Charity Auction.

A total of 92 items and experiences were auctioned throughout the course of the evening, including a limited edition Max Mara teddy coat, a crocodile skin Givenchy antigona bag, a Galapagos Cruise from Hurtigruten Expeditions, business class return tickets to London via Qatar Airways, and much more. All of the auction items were generously donated by The Melium Group, private organisations, and notable individuals with 100% of the proceeds going to charity.

“As a global publishing and media house, BurdaLuxury has the privilege of showcasing the universal values of compassion and generosity that unite us all, reminding audiences of our common humanity and the capacity we have to make a difference together. For as we know, it is the narratives we write and the stories we highlight that have the power to shape the future and create change,” said Natasha Kraal, Publisher at BurdaLuxury Kuala Lumpur and co-chairperson of the charity auction committee.
